Hey there!
I really seem to be a friendly guy... Well, some people who know me might go like "uuuhmmmmmm" now, but well
Point is: Every now and then I get added as friend from other people. People I don't know at all, people I never talked to, people I don't know their attitude.
Two bugs seem to get married here. First bug is a human one. Why on earth should I go down the streets, pointing randomly at persons shouting "THIS ONE IS MY FRIEND!" ?
The other is, why does the my opera community system allows this to happen? Due to the fact, that their friend lists are public, these people now run down the street with a big sign around their neck listing some people, including me, as friend.
I know it can't hurt me. As long as I don't add them as friends, they don't gain any privileges to my blog. They don't see hidden albums or hidden postings or such. But hey, people (including opera developers), I got news for you! There's more then technical security!
"Friend" is a strong word for me. To somebody calling me friend, I feel being connected to. This connection usually grew in the past. We partly think the same way, we like the same music, the same food, the same operating system *coughs*
But with this friendlist mayhem, I'm the friend of people of which I don't know what they do, like and think.
Just as an example: What if somebody supports americas war strategy? Just imagine, somebody stumbles through blogs and finds a posting which tells how cool it it to put on a helmet, fly east and blow up some camels and their owners just because it's fun and because Bush said anyway that these are all terrorists. Then the reader turns over to the bloggers friends page and finds *tadaaa* ME!
"Hey sport, got you, huh? So much about your love for peace and freedom."
No way! I want to decide who can add me to his/her friend list. And not just that! I want to be able to revoke this decision at any time! Sometimes people change their attitude and opinions, sometimes people say bad things intentionally, sometimes because they have been told wrong and believed it. Whatsoever: I always and at any time want to have the power to choose where my name is listed in this cruel world.
Opera devs: C'mon! It ain't that difficult! You promised one year ago!
