2nd World Pyro Olympics (day three)

January 07,2007 was the third day of the Pyro Olynpics featuring Germany and United Kingdom. I was not able to go during the second day because of some delays and unexpected occurences. Well, on the third day, there was one thing for sure; I had learned my lesson on the first day, so this time I brought my camera tripod stand with me. Of course, without the tripod, my arms becomes very tired after holding the digital camera steady throughout the course of performances, not to mention that my hands and arms are not always as steady, so it affects the video quality.
Like we'd done last time, my parents and I, together with my visiting uncle bought food from a drive-thru fastfood chain and had our dinner in the car at the parking lot of the venue where the Pyro Olympics was held. We arrived at approximately 19:40 and the traffic was already severe. The excellent parking spot where we parked last time was already occupied, so we had to find another place. The road was a 6-lane road, but 4 out of the 6 lanes were already fully-parked We had no choice but to force our way through the cars and luckily, we found a spot, not so good, but better than none. Then, we proceeded into devouring our food literally HAHA afraid that the fireworks would start before we finish eating. Just a few moments before I finish my food, I heard people screaming outside and there, I saw the fireworks soaring up high in the sky. WOW! I almost freaked out, I quickly grabbed my digicam and the tripod and ran through the fields and across the crowd to find a good spot for filming.
It was not until I've set my digicam on automatic filming mode that I'd noticed about the huge crowd watching the fireworks. My my...the people present that day are at least 30 times more than the first day of Pyro Olympics. It makes me really hard to find a place to film because of the crowd, but I came to a clearing and thought that it would be a good place. Well, I don't know but people here tend to think that this fireworks thing is a time for picnicking. Gosh, it's so dark and still, people brought chairs, tables, mats, and food. The worse thing is, someone actually brought a grill because obviously, I smelled the odor of roasted rotten fish or whatever it is that is flowing in the air. It smells so aweful that I had to try to relocate my tripo-with-cam several times just to avoid the stink.
Oh! I hadn't realized that I'd gone into so much details that I'd forgotten to comment on the perfomances of Germany and UK. Speaking of which, I remembered my online friend from England assuring me that UK's performance would be best. Indeed, although I was really tired when I got home, that night of "journey" was not a waste of time, it was worthwhile. I had the opportunity to witness one of the world's most prestigious fireworks exhibition and testing my photography and filming skills. Taking photos was the harder part, since I had to anticipate, predict, and ready my digicam so I could snap the shot in the same instant the firework blooms. This time I took more videos than pictures, as it would be a waste not to film it. Taking pictures has 50% probability failure rate, while filming has 100% rate of succeeding.
Since the internet here is still experiencing technical difficulties, I would again, delay my posting of the photos of the fireworks for maybe a week or two. Hopefully by then, the internet would return to its normal state so I could show you the pictures Sorry guys for another long post of nonsense HAHA although the title was suppose to be about the fireworks, I did not go into so much detail in describing them, as I'm not a fireworks expert, I don't know the names But oh well, I wish you guys were there, I'm sure you'd enjoy it! For those who are curious, 1st World Pyro Olympics clips can be found in youtube, although not with the best video quality, its tolerable This year's was better though, if you were to ask me So I guess this is it. Better click on the save icon now before I thought of something again and prolong your stay here and wasting your time to read my endless post byebye!
