One World One Dream

, , , , , , ,

Two nights ago, I was alone at home watching the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics 2008, while my parents were in the hospital visiting my grandfather. There had been so much talk about this event in China recently, that I honestly didn't know what to expect. Rumors had it that it would probably be the grandest opening ceremony in the Olympic history, so I had waited for this day, to satisfy my curiosity :D

At exactly 8:00pm August 08, 2008 (where all the numbers symbolize good luck), the Summer Olympics 2008 opening ceremony started. Wow! The moment the world has been waiting for four long years, with China preparing for so long, investing nearly $40 billion trying to make this a memorable event both in the Olympic and Chinese history, while fending off human rights complaints and attacks by natural calamities, it has not been an easy four years. Indeed, the opening ceremony has been so grand, so splendid and magnificent. I have never seen anything so wonderful and almost perfect :D

However, while everyone was rejoicing for the arrival of this event, there had to be some forgotten souls(either terrorists or human rights protesters claiming to seek justice) out there who probably had too much energy and time to spend than just stay in there god forsaken homes and watch the Olympic opening ceremony, that they had to go out in the streets protesting about how China had violated human rights. Wow, I think that really seemed so out-of-place. Seems they couldn't stand other people happy, and couldn't stand their own misery either. I cannot understand what these anti-chinese people truly wanted, is it their concern how the Chinese government want things done? I mean, hey majority of them do not know what really is happening inside China. Many of them thought China as bad, merely because their peers said so, or the media tells them that. I am not a fan of politics, but how people now (especially those belonging to the western side of the world) are treating China is just unfair. Why wouldn't they just admit that they're jealous of China's recent economic boom or they're just angry because their government cant control their people well enough? And for one, I can't believe that the French president actually attempted to ban China from holding Olympics 2008! Then what? Send ambassadors to China later to apologize? That's just pathetic! See how happy their team was when they paraded into the stadium? They should really be ashamed. I think sports shouldn't be aligned to politics. It is two very different things, just like what Sweden had said and all the other nations that supported Olympics did

I think the theme of the Olympics 2008 says it all, "One World One Dream." In the Olympic games, the world is one, and the athletes also share one dream. The fact that these athletes have been trained for four long years, just to be able to showcase their talents for a few minutes in this internationally accredited competition, means a lot to them. Many of them have built their dreams alongside this event, and to ban Olympics simply means to deprive these people their chance of fulfilling their dreams. Perhaps that is even more of a human rights issue that needs attention  See how happy everyone was when they paraded into the stadium, waving their flags up high in the air ever-so proudly? That is because whether they win or not, they at least had the opportunity to struggle for their dreams, and a chance to show the world how good they are. Even the famous Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal joined this event, representing Switzerland and Spain respectively. 204 in all countries, with more than ten thousand athletes joined Olympics 2008, with many of them either in their first or second time to join this grand event. It is both a glory to these nations, and a glory to China and the Chinese  I truly hope that this event would start and end well. Good luck to all the athletes! :D

I preffer to think in the games. Other kind of news is not too relevant, as you say.

I just hope everything result ok, in security terms. I mean, there are lots of people who don't want peace and goes through the world with guns and bombs, and I have no words for that. But, I think it could happen both in China as in any place of the world where there is an important event.

bye

Jesús 1. September 2008, 06:35

Hey Winter (or Shir P:?), why you don´t oppen a Post when you, as a very pretty and smart china girl can reply all owr kind of doubts about China :D?.

I have many doubts but, later of to read all this cmmnts, I can understand that this isn´t the place for say that things. So, I think in the possibility of that you open a new post for reply owr questions about China.

First do a post receiving 50 or less questions (is joke P:, 20 is fine;) ) about your country . Later, in the second post, publish the answers :D.

Is just a idea for to get a place where we can "UNDERSTAND" all this things that we can´t understand about China. Is ok :D?

jesús

PS: And yes, I also vibrated with the Olimpics .

Later of all, is a "emotion" directly from the "Olympus", isn´t?

Winter 2. September 2008, 15:16

Hmm I think that is a really good idea! I mean I have been trying to explain to peopl who think wrongly of China, who misunderstood many accusations leveled on China by the media that sometimes I find it very unfair. Of course, I'm not saying that I'm always right, but I truly hope that people view this matter in another person's perspective. I don't live in China, but maybe because I'm a Chinese, people would think I'm biased. Well there are rare circumstances that I would try to protect China, however I also know where justice stands

I cannot guarantee you a satisfactory answer, but I will try my best to tell you of what I know about China and what I think about it  as for the 20 questions, will I post them like an FAQ section? or should it be the other people who ask questions, while I provide only the answers? :D

Jesús 3. September 2008, 09:55

:D

Thank´s for receive my crazy idea :D (As everything that I do :D).

I think that the better way is that first:
1.- You open a new post .
2.- In this Post special you should say that this is a special time and that you will receive all kind of questions about China and that you will create a space of expretion in which you will reply 20 selectioned (and edited if you want :D) questions and doubts about China :D.
3.- You should post, in the same post :D, that this isn´t a war or a kind of debate bout China , is a special place created for that we, the occidentals we can to have a major understand of China and, why not?, to know more of China :D... Althought not all the answers will be as we wish, that´s not import coz, owr courage about the inmigration and war politics of the US will change something? I think: Not :D, but we have the need of say certain things, and in this case, understand more of China .
4.- You will say a time period for to receive the kind of questions that you feel that you are prepared for to reply :D.
5.- Once time closed the period of questions, you will close the option of receive messages in this post (a thing crazy :D) and you will add to your post the date for to publish the answers, later of that you receive all the questions that you consider enough :D. You also should add that you will use this time for to do investigations and more consults about your dear Country  coz, later of all, this is one space for the understanding, not for the war .
6.- Once time that you publish the answers, is your decition if you allow receive comments in your answers post or not. Is your choice :D.
7.- I think that this is the better way, and that later of this special post, you publish a new post called "at the sharp of the debate" in wich, (this 7 point only if you want to publish) the public can to do questions to you about the past answers and also you can post the number of comments that you will receive in this new post, coz, later of some time, is hard to read all the days the same fight of always, so, later of that limit, you can go to your "normal" life at my opera ("normal"?, I´m kidding, the life in MyOpera isn´t normal P:) and close this post for comments :D.

What do you think dear friend :D? (not about my insame mind if not buot my crazy idea P:).

jesús.

Winter 3. September 2008, 19:57

Oh wow that is one long list P: But I'll see what I can do, will try to use yours as a guide. You have it pretty well-organized  I can't do it now, I'm so tired I have to get some sleep but tomorrow, once I get some time I will start with the first post  I sure hope that I would get enough questions to pick out the top 20 of them  my blog isnt that popular you know heh

anyway, thanks a lot for those ideas! I'll use them  have a great week! cya bye P:

Jesús 4. September 2008, 13:18

I am going to help you with the publicity :D.

And thank´s for the nice comments :o:.

SweetLinh 7. September 2008, 08:45

lol...seems my Shir must do a hard exercise :D

Winter 7. September 2008, 16:35

omg yes...a very hard one. you know how hard it is to get people to think outside the box, to turn their back against the media. im not even sure I can do this, school starts in three days heh

Winter 13. September 2008, 05:42

  You're popular hahaha how did you put yourself in such a mess? hahaha well, I guess comments by many people can be replied with just one comment :D that's mostly what I do, but then my blog isnt as popular as yours, so replying is not really a problem  but then, I like the way you reply to everyone, that makes people feel involved and accepted

Wow you're graduating soon too...I wanna finish my sentence in hellhole too  I have 1.5 yrs more to do :frown: oh well, have a nice weekend! :D

SweetLinh 13. September 2008, 15:03

lol...you know now i really dont know and remember clearly how many messages and comments i must reply, since May till now :faint:, as i started being busy and comments are too many that are out ouf my control :worried:. hehe i have tried to reply to others like you said, but what should i do as if a pic has only one or two comment and i cant count how many such a pic :faint: while my time has been being shorter and shorter P: and being a very lazy blogger. :D
may be i always try to be friendly and open to reply to all, but sometimes i feel them very not well banana :D
dont worry, i believe you will do it very well , sometimes i wish i could do something better in the past, you have more chance to do it better than me
