One World One Dream
Sunday, 10. August 2008, 15:17:52
Two nights ago, I was alone at home watching the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics 2008, while my parents were in the hospital visiting my grandfather. There had been so much talk about this event in China recently, that I honestly didn't know what to expect. Rumors had it that it would probably be the grandest opening ceremony in the Olympic history, so I had waited for this day, to satisfy my curiosity
At exactly 8:00pm August 08, 2008 (where all the numbers symbolize good luck), the Summer Olympics 2008 opening ceremony started. Wow! The moment the world has been waiting for four long years, with China preparing for so long, investing nearly $40 billion trying to make this a memorable event both in the Olympic and Chinese history, while fending off human rights complaints and attacks by natural calamities, it has not been an easy four years. Indeed, the opening ceremony has been so grand, so splendid and magnificent. I have never seen anything so wonderful and almost perfect
However, while everyone was rejoicing for the arrival of this event, there had to be some forgotten souls(either terrorists or human rights protesters claiming to seek justice) out there who probably had too much energy and time to spend than just stay in there god forsaken homes and watch the Olympic opening ceremony, that they had to go out in the streets protesting about how China had violated human rights. Wow, I think that really seemed so out-of-place. Seems they couldn't stand other people happy, and couldn't stand their own misery either. I cannot understand what these anti-chinese people truly wanted, is it their concern how the Chinese government want things done? I mean, hey majority of them do not know what really is happening inside China. Many of them thought China as bad, merely because their peers said so, or the media tells them that. I am not a fan of politics, but how people now (especially those belonging to the western side of the world) are treating China is just unfair. Why wouldn't they just admit that they're jealous of China's recent economic boom or they're just angry because their government cant control their people well enough? And for one, I can't believe that the French president actually attempted to ban China from holding Olympics 2008! Then what? Send ambassadors to China later to apologize?
I think the theme of the Olympics 2008 says it all, "One World One Dream." In the Olympic games, the world is one, and the athletes also share one dream. The fact that these athletes have been trained for four long years, just to be able to showcase their talents for a few minutes in this internationally accredited competition, means a lot to them. Many of them have built their dreams alongside this event, and to ban Olympics simply means to deprive these people their chance of fulfilling their dreams. Perhaps that is even more of a human rights issue that needs attention

I just hope everything result ok, in security terms. I mean, there are lots of people who don't want peace and goes through the world with guns and bombs, and I have no words for that. But, I think it could happen both in China as in any place of the world where there is an important event.

I have many doubts but, later of to read all this cmmnts, I can understand that this isn´t the place for say that things. So, I think in the possibility of that you open a new post for reply owr questions about China.
First do a post receiving 50 or less questions (is joke
Is just a idea for to get a place where we can "UNDERSTAND" all this things that we can´t understand about China. Is ok
jesús
PS: And yes, I also vibrated with the Olimpics
Later of all, is a "emotion" directly from the "Olympus", isn´t?

I cannot guarantee you a satisfactory answer, but I will try my best to tell you of what I know about China and what I think about it

Thank´s for receive my crazy idea
I think that the better way is that first:
1.- You open a new post
2.- In this Post special you should say that this is a special time and that you will receive all kind of questions about China and that you will create a space of expretion in which you will reply 20 selectioned (and edited if you want
3.- You should post, in the same post
4.- You will say a time period for to receive the kind of questions that you feel that you are prepared for to reply
5.- Once time closed the period of questions, you will close the option of receive messages in this post (a thing crazy
6.- Once time that you publish the answers, is your decition if you allow receive comments in your answers post or not. Is your choice
7.- I think that this is the better way, and that later of this special post, you publish a new post called "at the sharp of the debate" in wich, (this 7 point only if you want to publish) the public can to do questions to you about the past answers and also you can post the number of comments that you will receive in this new post, coz, later of some time, is hard to read all the days the same fight of always, so, later of that limit, you can go to your "normal" life at my opera ("normal"?, I´m kidding, the life in MyOpera isn´t normal
What do you think dear friend
jesús.
