New Place, New Start

Finally, I am here in Shanghai now!
I have been waiting for this moment for so long...and when I finally arrived, that sense of freedom and anticipation has already multiplied itself tenfold
My friend and I had started looking for an apartment the day after we arrived and we are quite lucky to find one so easily. Although the price we had to pay to the real estate agent was outrageous...lol but for the excellent service we received, it was worthwhile
So...this trip kind of fulfilled yet again my dream of dressing in winter clothes
Yes, I just love the knee-high boots, scarf, big-heavy hooded coat, leather gloves, and the several layers of clothes underneath the coat
Call me weird or whatever, but it's just something I cannot normally do when living in the Philippines. Soon, I will take some pictures of the university and maybe some of my classmates too. It was a surprisingly diverse and fun class. Except for one of the three teachers who is so boring and always trying to impress us with her unimpressive English, everyone else in class was fun to talk and be with. We are twelve total in class. We have 5 Italians, 2 French, 1 Russian, 1 Spanish, and 3 Filipinos
The lessons were at first simple then it gets more and more complicated. I am happy that I am learning new things everyday, and getting to know more about my new friends too
As with a new place, it always symbolizes a new start at some point in life. For me, Shanghai is a great place for me to experiment with my own idea of freedom and independence. Although it has never been fun cleaning the apartment for like a week before we could move in, there are many other things to make up for a few bad ones
Last night, Nicolas, a French friend, invited Christine and I over to dinner, together with about 22 other international students. We took this as an opportunity to meet new people and socialize with them, so yeah, we accepted the invitation. It was in a Japanese restaurant with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. I guess the dinner has both good and bad things hahaGood things were yeah, meeting new people, talking with them, and just chilling and having a good time with each other. The food wasn't bad either, and since it's a buffet, we get to order and order
Then the bad thing came, my friends wanted me to drink with them. The Asahi beer was really good and I thought okay I can handle this. But the worse came...the SAKE came
hahahaha I have tasted sake before and it really just tastes like water and alcohol mixed together, awful! But everyone insisted that I toast with them, so fine...I did. Then it went on and on...I thought I'd eaten quite a lot of food already, so probably I won't be so drunk. I was greatly mistaken, apparently
I am not usually the one to get drunk right away. I have even tried vodka and I was completely fine, but this sake thing completely shunned my confidence
Christine and I left the place and headed back home, with me feeling all tipsy and sleepy. I walked out the elevator and entered the apartment, several times almost stumbling at myself :O Then I collapsed on my bed and tried to fall asleep, but no, my heart was beating like its going to explode anytime soon...so I was lying there dreamily for 2 hours, then I cannot take it anymore and woke up. I sw that there was a message and a missed call from Hampus and I know that he must have been worried, coz he called me when I got home and I was telling him I'm drunk and speaking to him in Chinese
That part was hilarious hahaha Anyway, I sent him an SMS and he called me back then we talked for about an hour before I went to sleep. He told me to drink lots of water so I don't get hangover the next day. I did what he said and it worked. So kudos to him
Now I have learned my lesson...a new place, a fresh start? yeah, and new experiences too
I don't ever wanna get drunk again
Gotta practice more on my self-control skills lol Either way, I'm just sitting here too lazy to study for my exam on Monday, so I thought I'd just write something instead
I hope everyone is having a great time too. Thanks again for dropping by and reading

I'm glad to know you are enjoying Shanghai, and your studies. So, you are there for that reason??
You made me smile with with some comments, mainly with those about your fashion style...
Just a joke, please don't take it wrong...
I hope you keep on spending nice days there. Is good for me to know good things about friends in Opera. Anyway, remember I wish to be helpful in any circumstance. Be happy!!!
