An Open Book

Have you ever used a browser with such great aesthetics you can simply sit in front of the monitor and stare at it whole day without getting bored, but later realize that the only reason for staring and doing nothing with it, is because it's hogging down your computer so much that even moving your mouse around is becoming increasingly difficult? Okay, maybe now is the time to end such unpleasant experiences. Nothing is more difficult and worthwhile than getting the right browser if you want to get the most of internet, however, if you give Opera a chance, you won't regret ever trying.

Popularity and acceptability of a new or existing browser is determined by its ability to run "lightly" on just any computer, whether old or new. I've always heard people complaining about this browser loading so slow and that browser hogging down the system, but I haven't heard anyone complain about the Opera browser at all.

I was brought into this wonderful world of Opera by a friend, who has been an active member of myOpera blog ever since. Right now, I am proud to present my own personal space on myOpera blog that has become my emotional outlet during the past few years. Surprisingly, I have also made a lot of new friends who share my interests and passion, and understand me in ways many others couldn't. Technology is truly amazing.

Now this is the part where Opera comes in. There was only pure amusement and appreciation in my eyes when I watched Opera perform miracles. It shows my blog exactly the way I want it to -- no randomly hanging pictures and no cramped up or missing paragraphs in my posts. I am an expressive person, and the various browser and blog themes contributed by Opera members were invaluable to me. Opera expresses my personality in every way it can and this is the only time and place where I really feel comfortable and secure when on the internet.

Everything about Opera screams innovation and complete devotion by the Opera crew. It is an absolute masterpiece that will remind you of perfection. Some features I would like to special mention are the Speed Dial, theme customization, download manager, integrated mailing system, user-friendly interface, and the ever-so-useful and cute widgets, so take the challenge and give Opera a chance, if you have not yet hit that "Download" button.

2nd Annual Pyro Olympics (day one)

, , , ...

The Pyro Olympics this year was again held in the Philippines. Since I didn't get the chance to see the international fireworks competition held here last year, I was really excited yesterday as it was the first day of the competition. This contest will last for five days, with two countries performing a day.

The contest was to start at 20:00 for Australia and 21:00 for Poland. We arrived at the mall beside where the contest would be held and decided to dine there. Unfortunately, the bayside restaurants were all closed for reservations, so we had no choice but to drive to the nearest drive-thru fast food to take out some food. After that, we drove to the empty grasslands near the mall where people crowded and parked there. We had our dinner in the car and waited until 20:30 when Australia hit its first streak of fireworks to the sky. I was surprised, my digicam wasnt ready yet bigsmile Anyway, after a while I managed to start recording videos and taking pictures. Australia ended its performance with the finale 30 minutes after. Hmm Australia's fireworks were good, but not as impressive. I did record a lot of video, but later realized that I forgot to set the video-cam mode to the standard mode, it was in email mode,so the video was really small sad stupid me haha Then I thought, its ok, there's still Poland later.

5 minutes...10 minutes...15 minutes...until finally, the clock chimed 22:00. We decided that maybe Poland will not be performing that night, so headed towards the car. The problem is, another 2 lanes of cars were parked beside us, there is no way we could get out >.< No choice, we had to wait until the owner of the other cars to come and drive away. After 15 minutes of waiting, there was still no sign of any driver or car moving away. My dad decided to drive backwards and slip through the small space behind us so we could drive out. Just then, several colorful blossoms of fireworks bloomed and I was like...WOW Lucky we had not left bigsmile

Hurriedly, I situated myself to the best spot and started filming again bigsmile Determined to do better this time, I made sure I had already set the video-cam mode back to standard mode. I also thought of capturing some pictures. Still pictures of fireworks looks better than ones in motion. Actually, my main purpose of going to watch this contest was to test my photography skills. I want to try if I could take pictures at the right time with the right effects. Well, Poland's performance ended after 20 minutes. I must say, even Poland's performance was shorter than Australia's, I think it was better organized and choreographed, it was beautiful.I scanned through my cam and found out that only about 24 to 26 out of 70 photos are well-taken hehe Its really kinda hard to focus the camera lens, but I've learned my lesson. I'm going to bring a tripod tomorrow for the 3rd day of competition featuring United Kingdom and Germany. Too bad I can't watch the 2nd day competition today of USA and Spain, as my parents were terrified with the heavy traffic we encountered during our way home. It took us 2 hours to drive through the normal 30-minute road. My my...but it was worthwhile. It gave me the opportunity to witness one of the very rare occasions of fireworks display bigsmile

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a photography fanatic bigsmile I'm also trying to improve in every way...so of course, comments are welcome wink Thanks for reading! Some photos I've taken will be uploaded to one of my photo albums, please check it out and leave me some comments hehe Thanks! bigsmile
