My OperaReal Race Sims Verses Toy Console Racing Games

The real difference here is that one is a toy console game and the other is a PC simulator.
Many developers come close to real picture like graphics and visual elements such as light and dust particles, yet the devs lack real time physics engines and simply cant implement that kind of code on toy console video game machines. Don't get me wrong when i call them toy consoles, I love my xbox and ps3 and all portable gaming toys. With the emphasis on toys for that what the console video game unit is. A pc is not a toy, its more of a tool. You Should never treat tools as toys, the tool might byte and toy are safety checked so young kiddies can play with them. A Desktop PC or a workstation and laptops are tools for grown up people that know how to use then just like shifters and spanners, lawnmowers and hedge trimmers, ect..
We do make toy lawnmowers and toy hammers and toy spanners and toy guns. And adults do play with toys. Yet kids are not aload to play with grownup tools, thats the rules. I didnt make the rules up, so dont shoot me down for that statement.
Now we got that part out the way, we can move on too the topic from the head line.
We can start with the current position on gaming and will not move into the past, reason is that the past games and present games is a history blog not a comparison.
We will start with the most familier titles like EA need for speed unleashed 2 , we will no talk of Gran Turismo or Forza as of yet.
EA has a huge history, that I will not dispute. As for is current release race game sim
NFS unleashed 2(we will call this NFSu2 for short OK). Its not a sim and will never b a simulator, it has tweaks that interpret a sim like feature but is still not a Racing sim.
Its has some really horrible graphics and alot of image, and physics bugs( we will not discuss the bug here OK). When you play a close to real race sim like V8 supercar and F1 on consoles we can feel the difference. Racings simulator are simulating real race driving at all aspects of physics and graphics.The graphics side comes last in development stages.
So there for EA is no longer a contender( Sorry EA , you are out of the mix).
We will now discuss MS Forza, SCE Gran Turismo (SCE = Sony, MS = Microsoft) .
Both of these games are great and alot of fun, I have spent many hours with both (With wheel and without wheel). Forza is a xbox game and Gran Turismo is a Playstation game. We agreed without consent that these to are toys video game machines and for this reason these two games (Forza and Gran Turismo) will always be toy racing games and will never be a Racing Simulator. Simulator are professional tools for training and practicing real racing without incurring the huge cost behind every test lap, practice lap, and setup adjustment.
Car Racing is big money sports and if you ain't got the guts to race and still got the money you can still compete in events. Simulators are a very cost effective and safe alternative for more reasons then this topic has room for.
Games like Race Room , GTR, iRacing, Race07, rFactor and many many more titles have been developed with the drivers and pit crews in mind. Your able to test Vehicle setups in real time physics engines that only a hardcore Gaming PC could deliver. These days we can say that most medium end PCs will deliver a correct Sim experience without any issues. For this reason being that all these title were developed before windows 7, before AMD owned ATi,
and before a lot of other progressive developments in Computer technology. Not all Devs take future technology endeavors into mind when creating titles such as Racing Sims.
Features like motion blur and illuminating brake disc. Flaming exhaust pipes and very high, deep reflective colors are hypnotizing to children and adults, the stuff looks cool and adds a organic feel to a game.(its only taking your attention away from the bad physics).
Its the same reason a woman fogs up your vision with all that makeup and perfume.Its to take your attention away from the fact she is a dead root,b!!!!tch @SS ho, that wants to steal your money and sometimes your sperm( Please excuse ladies - No offense intended ladies ).
Apart from trying to get a point across, if your are interested in a Racing Sim then the only option is to build a Rig that has the output required and try rFactor, RaceRoom,or SimBin Race07( Race Injection is the last and latest release from simbin).
The visuals speak for them selves. I have a bunch of MSAA and non MSAA ey3finity screen shots of NFSu2 and will upload RaceRoom, Race07 ey3finity screen shots soon.
All off simbin Race simulators have been smooth at very very high visual settings(the highest possible settings could run at 65+ FPS x 3 monitors ( thats 65 fps per screen) You do the math and a single screen outputs 195+ FPS without a glitch and the CPU has 35% of its resources in use, VGA card is at 60% to 80% demand, and 6GB ddr3 has 45% demand.
People using windows XP might have better results( the titles i mentioned are DX9 ).
When we receive DX11 versions of these Simulators we will see much more organic elements that games like Dirt 3 has excelled at.
And if you ain't after a Sim experience then you in the wrong place. I will give you a TIP-Try Dirt 3, its not a Simulator, its clean and fun and has much smother visuals then any other PC/Console Port developer has to offer. Its has DX11 and you can see from screen shots that it can run at higher visual settings( Average 30+ FPS)on High. We general cant see or notice difference between 30 and 60 FPS.( All movies run at 24 FPS or 28 FPS.) Please don't cross reference me for that movie statement. We are here to post about Racing Sims.

If you the king of person that goes for a instant espresso coffee over a true espresso coffee. Then You maybe in the wrong place. And if your desire is to build a professional train set, go to a hobby store not a toy shop. You only find toys at toys shops, the only tool you find in a toy shop is the idiot looking for a tool.
