MacBook Pro (Late 2008) Review

, , ,

Ha :D, and again it's been (almost) a month that I didn't write any word here in my so-called personal blog. Well, you know me, I have my new babies to "take care" of. As clearly stated above, one of them is my old laptop replacement - MacBook Pro (late 2008 model precisely) which I longed for since a year ago. I had been patiently waiting for the new redesigned MacBook Pro and finally I got last month; besides, under unsure circumstance, I bought its "sibling" as well, not the redesigned MacBook brother, it's iPhone 3G (hehe, please bear with me, I seldom show off here p:). Voilà, that explains why I didn't update my blog these few weeks. Without saying any nonsense, I will try my best to make a useful review of MacBook Pro for my personal reference as well as for you or for those who intend (or hesitate) to buy a Mac.

Logitech's VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks Review

, ,

Yup, recently I just bought a new mouse. My previous mouse is irresponsive than it supposed to be; I click once but it reacts as double, I drag files between windows but it releases in the middle way :irked:. Under such circumstances, I can no longer to be productive. Thus, a new mouse is a must to replace my sick mouse which I have been using it for 5 years (at least). Well I guess I've fully profited its value p:.

iPod Touch Review

Instead of commenting always about my trips and my personal life, let's talk something different, shall we (shall I)? As suggested by the post title itself, today I am going to review my "recently" bought gadget, that is the noted iPod Touch. Bear in mind that this is an innocent yet personal review on my iPod Touch.

Recent Life

, , ,

It's been long time I didn't put online mode in Live Messenger and Joe started a conversation with me:

Joe > hi
Me > hi, what's up?
Joe > online wo
Me > yalor, long time no do that
Joe > stage2?
Me > don't know lor, how to look?
Joe > internet
Me > so vaste...
Joe > sure blh punye
Me > o

Some of you might not understand all about what are we talking except if you are Malaysian p:. Recently we had an internship reunion and it's time to look for company to ask for a practical. Probably I would follow as what Kai Lun intends to do, that is looking for the stages (means practical in French) available in ENIM server (available stages proposed by companies having relationship with ENIM). That's why Joe started the conversation by asking whether I was looking for stages.

Joe took intiative earlier by searching stages and he got one in Brest, located in the west of France. Besides, he found another practical in Malaysia which starts in this summer holidays. That's Joe, motivated and determined. While Kai Lun, he plays lots of sports since last September, tennis, ice-skating, swimming and "babyfoot". It seems like he is working hard on losing weight p:. Jun Hui, he is busy for his practical for the moment and we meet only once a week, that's when we have our reunion dinner every Saturday night.

Me? I do nothing special. Recently I had some exams which I don't reckon I could pass it since I didn't put much effort on it. I think I disappoint a professor who gave me extra tuition. Frankly speaking, I understood what's the prof taught in that tuition yet it became unobvious when it came to exam. So I think I am really dumb and sloppy as always :worried:. Everybody lives meaningfully while I am lost in somewhere and stagnant, I think I should have change my lifestyle, for example at least learn something new everyday. I wasted time everyday without learning something new, that's a regrettable :left:.

Tomorrow I will have 8 hours of class, 4 hours in the morning at school and the other 4 hours at Fort de Chesny, a research institute belonging to our school but located somewhere 20 minutes by car outside of Metz. It's my first time to study outside of ENIM. To get there, I have to take a lift since there is no bus service to Fort de Chesny.

Today I spotted another new camera from Sony, DSC-T100. A ultra-compact camera which resemble to DSC-T30 and T-50 but thinner. The camera will be shipped this 23rd March (according to Sony site). Besides, Sony will launch a new serie of Walkman, called Walkman Video NW-A800. In my opinion, there is room for improvement for Walkman Video's design, frankly I don't like this kind of design, a bit too curved and with old-fashioned circular design on controls which I don't like much.

OK, that's all for my boring blog. Hope you don't get bored and live your life meaningfully!

Sony Ericsson K810i

,

Wow, I can't wait to share another new gadget which is going to be available soon. As you have seen the blog title, yes Sony Ericsson is going to launch the SE K800i's successor which is called SE K810i.

Irresistible, desirable, tempting and elegant... At first sight it looks like there are 13 diamonds aligned on the keypad. Its overall design is almost same as predecessor where you can find a joytstik in the middle, 6 shortcut buttons located beside the joystick, even the video calling lens' position is same as K800i. For me, this is more sleek and chic.

The rear allocate Sony's renowned Cyber-shot 3.2 Megapixels lens with xenon-flash. As you can see from the photo above, they have reduced the convex lens cover's thickness yet the rear design is a bit disappointed especially the speaker part and the engraved "Sony Ericsson" on the battery cover. For me, it totally ruins its beauty, don't you think?

The two K800 series share almost the same specification, for more information, click here to consult the difference at Sony Ericsson site.

Besides SE K810i, there are other new models in another SE series. If you are interested to know more, click here.

Still it's not a smartphone. I hope I could own a handphone which allows us to install softwares. SE K810i captures decent photos but as most Cyber-shot model even camera model, its red-eye reduction function isn't efficient as promised. That's a regret for those who always frequent nigth party as me, I have to use a third party software to remove those red eyes, it's quite annoying and time wasting.

Another element which I don't like with my current SE K800i is its video capturing resolution. The resolution is too low and small in size. I tried to put some proper converted videos into my handphone so that it can be used as a video player yet it lagged. I think it's due to its firmware. The original firmware doesn't have such lagging problem; once I installed and updated it, the video did not play "smoothly". Last week I had installed the 3rd version of firmware, still it can't fixe the problem. So remember guys, determine your needs before buying any new gadget. So far I am satisfied with my SE K800i and won't change it in these two years (I hope P:).

Apple's iPhone

Do you know that?! :yikes: This gadget is totally brilliant :up:! At first sight I have already fallen in love with it! Perhaps it would be my next shopping target! Haha, just kidding :whistle:.

Today Apple's CEO Steve Job presented his new toy called Apple iPhone at MacWorld 2007 in San Francisco. So what can we play with this extraordinary mobile phone? First, you may notice that there is no keypad at all? I bet you sure know the answer of it :cool:, it's totally touch screen device! Its large and beautiful screen will make you love to touch it, could you imagine when you wanna send a sms to your friend by just finger-typing on the screen, don't you think it's something cool :cool:?

If you think it's just a touch-screen handphone, you are totally wrong. What else you can do with this iPhone? It's built-in WiFi, EDGE and bluetooth. What I like the most is its built-in WiFi. Nowadays the internet has become wireless and you can possibly surf wherever and whenever you like :up:. EDGE is an enhanced GSM which provides 3 times faster in data transfer than ordinary GSM which most of handphones use today. There is blueetooth as well. The combination of 3 wireless technologies in a small device is truthly amazing and unbelievable :eyes:! Don't you think?

iPod is integrated into iPhone which means you can listen to mp3 music and mp3 can be stored till 8GB (it depends model). Besides, it can play video as well. Steve Job promises that its battery life can be up to 16 hours of audio playing and up to 5 hours of talks, video and browsing. I think the battery life is a bit shorter than I expected :o:, well I guess it's sufficient to survive with it. Moreover it has 2.0 megapixels built-in camera, since I don't have it, I cannot judge its quality. Erm, if it comes with 3.2 megapixels or above, I might consider to get one...

In terms of softwares, it uses Mac OS X as its operating system and it's pre-installed Google Map which is quite useful for traveling and you don't have to refer to any paper map with tiny road names. Since I love travelling, this gadget is really a must, haha :D.

Technical specificationcan:
Screen size = 3.5 inches
Screen resolution = 320 by 480 at 160 ppi
Input method = Multi-touch
Operating system = OS X
Storage= 4GB or 8GB
GSM = Quad-band (MHz: 850, 900, 1800, 1900)
Wireless data = Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + EDGE + Bluetooth 2.0
Camera = 2.0 megapixels
Battery= Up to 5 hours Talk / Video / Browsing and up to 16 hours Audio playback
Dimensions = 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches / 115 x 61 x 11.6mm
Weight = 4.8 ounces / 135 grams

What I like:
- conference call (merge 2 calls into 1, that's super cool!)
- big screen, viewing very comfortable
- touch screen
- built-in WiFi and EDGE, good for surfing
- iPod integrated with video suppported
- Google Map
- speaker mode while calling

What I don't like:
- its sleek back seems like easily to get scratches (as it happens on first generation of iPod nano)
- battery life
- camera's megapixels
- moderate storage
- fingerprint on screen
- no visual call

What I cannot judge:
- sound quality (they build good iPod for mp3 but for calling?)
- photo quality (is there any flash integrated into the camera?)
- possibility to install other software or non-Mac software?

In a nutshell, this is probably the best mobile phone in the market since it provides the essentials on the go (mp3, video, calls, internet browsing, map, etc), all in a gadget. Its price, $499 for 4GB model and $599 for 8GB. That's bloody expensive! Let's wait if it will drop its price after several years...

So do you want to get one? If you are asking me, I will just say "wait". Wait for the public reaction before buying it. p: It will be shipping in June 2007 in USA and perhaps in September 2007 in Europe and 2008 in Asia.
