Folkloric dance: la quebradita
Sunday, November 18, 2007 11:30:01 PM
After watching many times the program, principally women dance with the same type of clothes for every song, ranging from dance to Tango. I just cannot stand it. Also they choose many songs that do not have anything to do with the rhythm (they almost put pop to dance Tango). I think even though I do not know very well how to dance but I know a little bit how to judge.
Now I'm going to show you a very difficult Mexican dance, called the Quebradita, is a dance where the man takes the woman in a fast dance where amazing movements are performed, well I let you with the videos, sorry about the quality but are the only one worth it and tell me what you think:

i'm always fascinated by dances, choregraphy, stuff like disco dancers, rock dancer, many sorts of popular dancing: The Funky Chicken, Mashed Potato, Wah-Watusi, Camel Walk, The Hitch Hike, the Hustle, Street Hustle, claude françois et les clodettes, john Travolta and the Saturday Night Fever Dance, Bus Stop dance, Four Corners, Bump, Funk dance, hip hop dance, ... etc...
have you seen the David Lachapelle's dance film called "Rize" ? really great, i like that ! , the John Waters film "Hairspray" is also interesting about all the 50's/60's dances.
Thank's for the Quebradita video !

This is what is more customarily seen as a quebradita dance.

It's the same thing in Rock'n roll dance.
There is the "classical" Rock 'n roll dance but there is also the "Acrobatic" Rock'n roll dance, with a level of difficulty more higher.
Interesting.
