Memories of a Foreigner

The conference was held in the Engineering Campus auditorium at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Mexico. The posters inviting people to assist were put in the engineering and accounting/administration campuses. The conference, as you see was given only by me and it lasted around 45 minutes because there was no internet in the auditorium and the Opera desktop and Mini demos were not done.

Before the conference started, around 30 pens were given as people were arriving. A lot of people even from different universities, schools and professions attended the event, at some moments during the conference, the hall was full but in average there were like 60 people, a lot more than I expected by only doing that promotion around campus.

The conference was given presenting me then showing a video then slidsets three times. The first video was “Sketch of my life” then Opera and products slideset, then the Opera Mini Malaysia Add and the Open the Web slideset, and finally the video “One Web” and the slideset “Opera Campus Crew”
I remarked people that Opera 10 and Opera for Wii were launched and that the one for Wii became free, they looked very excited about it.

At the end I asked let people ask questions and they started to ask a lot of questions after I gave away the 6 posters to the people that asked me first. It lasted around 20 to 30 minutes, good thing the auditorium was not going to be used next hour. I gave the t-shirts by asking people questions about Opera.

So far no people has joined the Opera Chihuahua group nor the Campus Crew but they looked excited when my counselor proposed making more conferences about Opera and things like learning the basics of a web language or using tools for developing in Opera.

No specific date when another conference was going to be given but I have been preparing the same conference in a graphic design school with a lot of presige in Chihuahua.
