Immigration, not a problem but a solution

, , ,

I was watching a documentary in the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the program “Destination America” about immigration where a Mexican used to go back and forth from Mexico to the USA, working some months to earn enough money then go back to live in Mexico, and he has done it 15 times or more. I saw that the same immigrants closed the borders to other immigrants during many periods, like the ethnic quota when they excluded the Chinese and in the Great Depression when they rejected the Mexicans, many other times when they rejected other people from different countries only because they where from there or of that ethnicity, don't you think is something unfair?

And something strange that I found the answer for in the program is that in Chicago and Detroit there are big Hispanic, principally Mexican population it was because during WWII, government in the USA needed people to work in steel factories in Chicago and vehicle factories in Detroit, where many people decided to stay even though it was far away from the Mexican frontier.

I think is unfair to treat immigrant people unfairly because they are trying and sometimes do better things than people that have been living always in the USA, like a Armenian woman that I met; when she came to the USA she had nothing a only her father and brother, a year after they arrived, he died and she did not what to do because she had nothing and she spoke no English and now she is rich, having two houses, one for the summer and other for winter, and they are huge.

Many people are protesting against the treatment of immigrants and last year Hispanic and Asian people protested around the country; and this week, many people protested again.
