All for love

The best things in life can never be kept; They must be given away. A Smile, a Kiss, and Love

Cairo

Today Claude asked "Did you like Cairo"
How can naswer with one word.
Here is a post for you.

First time we went to Cairo on excursion. What can I say...we saw pyramids, but it was not Cairo,it was Giza! Giza is situated on the other side of Nile.
That is why next year went to Cairo ourselves by bus.
I can say it was comfortable and fast.Much faster than tourist one.
All the way we watched Arabic movie, veeeeery loud!

This is Cairo early morning. It seems to be in light smoke...and it is really so

Egyptians going to the Mosque...

We are inside when tourists were allowed to enter it(the pray was over)

Here is anothe view from the top of minarete.
Mostly Egyptioan houses do not have roofs!
They are satnding without roofs there,no finished.
Why?First of all because they do not have rain there.
And the next, the real reason is:
when the house is finished they must pay taxes, but if no...they must not.
So...if a son want to have his own house he just build one floor more
and again the last one will not have roof.
See how different they are...
Some of them are cahrming and beautiful .. others...

Some more pics of Cairo
It is a very large city, nobody knows exectly.
people say that there are 20 mln of pople live there!

Cairo is full of such cars..fiat
You cannot imagine how many those big ladies sat in?!

7!!!
So...what is Cairo for me?
It is a huge, gray, loud, unusual and dirty city.
Did I liked it? Yes!!!!!!!!!!Very much!
Why? because Cairo is Cairo..you cannot compare it with others cities.
You may love it or not love,I loved!

Winter started todayNew post about love :)

I love the spires! The one pic with the rubble and the building with the spires in the middle of it all, is so sad, Yulia! Can you imagine Godzilla running amok in Cairo! haha

yulenka 22. November 2008, 04:20

Hi Scott:)
Thank you:) There are interesting moment that you know only when you come to the country. For example that taxi-bus does not stop for people to come on board. They just go with lower speed, but you must jump in (or jump out)just during the motion!

yulenka 22. November 2008, 04:41

Hi Glenn:) I think that there is enough chaos without Godzilla in Cairo

uttopia 22. November 2008, 04:55

Yes, I agree, but it would be fun for him! haha

yulenka 22. November 2008, 05:03

I think he will be afraid of shouting everywhere and this smoke...

But it is so charming when you can listen to a thousand of singin men from minaret!!!!It is a specail song. They sing together and apart. They answer each other by their songs. It is a pray of Cairo.I can try upload video for you to listen in the evening,if you want.

And this idea to destroy something...is close to cake theme

About taxes  I have a French example how stupids are some administration's rules: our old country houses have often a few and small windows because for our grand grand parents there was a taxe on windows (number and surface)

Thank you Yulia  And what about pyramids?

yulenka 22. November 2008, 10:26
