Memoirs of a geisha was written by Arthur Golden. This is one of the most interesting novels i've ever read. Story about Sayuri Niita, who was a geisha worked in Gion district,in Japan, before and after world war II. When she was a child, she had been taken far from her home and sold in slavery to a renowned geisha house. And she was trained to become a geisha performs for the nobility. She fell in love with a man, who had bought cherry syrup for her.But world war II erupted and the geisha house was forced to lose, Sayuri with little money had to find a way to keep her life and protect her happiness.
In my opinion, this novel is a masterpiece. Thanks to Memoirs of a geisha, reader can enter a world, where appearances are paramount, where covered with colourful kimono, where love almost is illusion. And this novel is very rich emotional, traditional and beautiful.
