Virus Warning POSTCARD

, , ,

Not this kind of postcard ...

I rarely send out Ecards however, this July 4th I did send some to
my mailing list..

I didn't know about this virus until today..

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sec tor of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept. COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US Snopes lists all the names it could come in.

It has been confirmed thru Snopes.. and you can see it
for yourself here.

Snopes

I won't be sending out any more for a while .. :frown:

Please don't send me any either lol.

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.

with love,
Fati

Hi Cocoa,

I know there are many out there but some people would think it was sent
from a friend and open it and lose all on the HD.

Always good to spread the word

The key to this is that there isn't a name or e-mail address... all the legit e-cards will have something like ' so-and-so has send you a greeting card", with the "so-and-so" being a recognizable name or e-mail address.
Of course, it's only a matter of time until this is corrected by the SOB's who create these viruses. And as Cocoa Butter says, having a good anti-virus program (and keeping it updated!) is the key to being safe...

yes but if you open a link a virus program won't get it in time this is why
they are using links now :frown:

avast and zone alarm

By zenya, # 15. July 2008, 22:18:42

Hmmm... Zone Alarm is just a firewall, won't do anything to stop viruses or spyware. Visit here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html and download this. It's a good program, be sure to select "Run Tea-Timer" at the end of the installation. Also, immunize your system until everything's covered. THen, run it and clean up your system of spyware. It'll run faster asa result!

No promises needed! :D

I've gotten several of the postcard e-mails recently. :eyes: I recognize them as being junk, as they're addressed to " Dear Friend". However, I'm sure that there are people out these who'll fall for this crap. Like my father. Seriously. Homer: Doh! Oh, well... what can you do, right?
