Agora que a Europeana parece já ter pernas para andar, depois das peripécias da inauguração frustrada, a UNESCO acaba de criar uma biblioteca semalhante mas com material de todo o mundo - pelo menos, é esse o objectivo futuro. Dei uma voltinha pela Biblioteca Digital Mundial e aquilo parece bastante prometedor!
The EU created Europeana and now UNESCO replied with the brand new World Digital Library. Europeana wants to show the European cultural heritage and WDL aims at doing the same with the world's heritage. It's only starting but it already looks very promising indeed!
O jornal The Guardian criou uma série com sínteses de informações sobre quase todos (195) os países do mundo. Ironicamente, não incluiu o meu... Mesmo assim, pode ser muito útil:

Acabo de descobrir* um projecto promovido por um dos grandes fotógrafos (ou fotorepórteres) actuais - James Nachtwey - para alertar para uma nova forma de tuberculose que está a matar de forma fulminante em alguns dos países mais pobres do mundo. Este diaporama não é para pessoas de estômago fraco mas é a minha maneira de contribuir para a divulgação do problema (como pede o projecto).

I just found about the project launched by James Nachtwey - one of the great photojournalists of our time - to alert to a new form of an old disease which is ravaging some of the poorest countries in the world. These pictures aren't for the faint at heart but I feel that I should help to spread the message.
