Sorry Zé.

cocojerry 28. May 2009, 17:55

i know an opera member , he has an album with so many hot photos like this and finally ,it was banned. But i wonder why these picture still remain. i don't know what is the difference. and shame that i was used to attract people for any purpose

PainterWoman 28. May 2009, 19:11

I think they get on the 'most popular' section because they get clicked on and visited so often.

fainoantonietta 28. May 2009, 19:51

I agree  , our community did not need this type of advertising, I know someone who definitely can do something to change the page....

fainoantonietta 28. May 2009, 19:53

All together we are strong... :knight:

zetorres 28. May 2009, 20:09

All together! :raider: :raider: :raider: Please report that problem Antonietta for that person! :hat:

zetorres 28. May 2009, 20:19

I don't believe they are the most popular photos in our community...
And I can prove...
Antonietta's photo it's beautiful but have only 20 views!
I believe soon that photo will be very popular but not yet!:wink:

I, Antonieta and some other friends have our photos surrounded by porn photos...

Zephirine 28. May 2009, 20:54

They said there wouldn't been those kind of pics after the Apricot, but I noticed there were many more after that!! :D:D
If you take a look at those albums you'll see they're the most visited because of those kind of photos and I don't think it's My Opera Team fault. :D
How can My Opera verify all the members' albums? Maybe blocking those nice pics when they appear the first time on the home page. That's an , I think! But those photos will have always lots of visitors 'cause too many people on the internet are looking for them! :frown:

ellinidata 29. May 2009, 01:07

I 100% agree!

in addition some of our photo albums were locker (without even been checked before they were by mods),
and since the 1st of the year a bug does not allow their unlocking possible!
My question is,
why these pictures are more acceptable that a body art?
and why our photo group 365photos' amazing albums are not very often in the Home page?
Number of visits to a photo album does not mean it is a special photo album!
The same with numerous posts that a certain female member posts and uses dirty filthy language ,
that also seems to be very much appreciated
and her posts are always in the popular posts.
At some point I read her comments and I gag!
Is that the class and a respectful quality
that this very fine software company wants to achieve?

*had to vent* p:

sanshan 29. May 2009, 03:43

Most of those photos aren't even taken by Opera members. And have you read some of the sleezy comments in these albums? I always report things like this to Opera and quite often they are removed.

suicidalstones 29. May 2009, 04:05

I agree. It would be nice to see these type of photos not here at all. Maybe the only photos that make the opening page should be ones actually taken by members.

Joe

clean 29. May 2009, 04:31

True. Perhaps there could be a place where members submit their own photos for inclusion on the front page! The talent here deserves far more prominence!

Shaunak 29. May 2009, 04:55

The photos on the front page are simply apaling. They should really control what sort of pictures get selected for the top page.

annoushkiss 29. May 2009, 05:50

Good post, Ze! That's really a great problem about our community and the whole internet. MyOpera team should delete porn pictures and ban users who post such pix. There is a great amount of porn sites over the net. People can use them to see and post "hot" pictures. And our community is definitely not a place for them!

EspenAO 29. May 2009, 07:14

We used to manually pick the the photos for the front page, but we (the My Opera team) are a very small team so we did not always have time to browse for new pictures to spotlight. We made this section based on which photos are the most popular among you and the result is not always what was intended. We usually ban members who upload offensive pictures, so we are keeping a look out on the frontpage, but from time to time some pictures slip through.

We already have a few community volunteers who help out moderate My Opera, but maybe we should extend this.

Good post, Ze.

fainoantonietta 29. May 2009, 09:23

Thanks EspenAO, I'm pleased that you follow us in our choices, I'm pleased to be able to show OPERA and its pages even to children, perhaps this is not a very popular choice, but some of us have done It and it's right to respect this choice, although it can be unpopular.

zetorres 29. May 2009, 09:41

Indeed Antonietta our community is full of kids one of the last MOTW was Andrew Nguyen 14 years old!

Espen I know you are always working hard and those kind of problems you never forget...there are so many sites in inter-net for those kind of photos. Opera can live easily without them!:wink:

You know I'm ready to help Opera for a better community as usually I like to promote here in Portugal!

"We used to manually pick the the photos for the front page, but we (the My Opera team) are a very small team so we did not always have time to browse for new pictures to spotlight."

Tell me if you need help to browse for new pictures to spotlight. I would like it!

So right Ann, worst is they are in main page! awww

Indeed Zeffie usually Opera Team have a feedback with his members when they report those photos, albums or members!

I did it some times, and why? some our kids are here in that amazing community!

Thanks to all the friends reporting here about that subject, Thanks Espen we all together are working for a better community!

fainoantonietta 29. May 2009, 09:57

...and tank whether you José

Dacotah 29. May 2009, 10:57

fainoantonietta 29. May 2009, 11:30

Someone .. noted me that not all pictures are porn, this is true, not all are, I think that certainly could be removed winking photos, to begin ...

PainterWoman 29. May 2009, 14:32

Antonietta, you bring up a good point. Many people think all pictures of women that don't have much on, are porn. To me they are not, unless the woman (or model) is placed in a very suggestive way. Still, that's not exactly porn, but to me is inappropriate for our younger members. An example of that is the woman with the tiny bathing suit that has her butt to the camera.

To me, porn is blatant sexual poses with nothing covered at all....no clothing or drapery to cover the private parts. They are there for shock and arousal. Even if these blatant poses are partially covered with drapery, it is what the poses suggest that is also porn. For example, what are the hands doing under the drapery. It is purposefully suggestive, unnecesarry and inappropriate IMHO.

As an artist, I think the human body is beautiful, men and women. Being in many art classes, I have seen, drawn and painted many nudes. There have been times when one professor in particular had the model in a very suggestive pose that I thought was inappropriate for a classroom setting. Sometimes a model would say she was uncomfortable with that and he would change the pose. Most times, however, models would pose however the professor wanted. Then it makes us, the artist, somewhat uncomfortable.

fainoantonietta 29. May 2009, 14:59

I'm in agreement with you but not completely. The body is beautiful the body of a woman or man is the universal harmony, I have seen the "Sistine Chapel" in Rome, I saw the "Riace bronzes" in Reggio Calabria, I have seen drawings of Leonardo da Vinci to "Uffizi" to Florence and I have seen last month Vigeland Park perhaps, unique place in the world where there are many beautiful and imposing nudity but full of harmony and passion. I know that the body is the expression of majesty, but can we see in the photographs winking the beauty of creation? The magnificence of perfection, the ART? I cannot see this all in the photos vulgar that there are in Opera, because I saw what is ART, I regret that I can not be completely agree with you, I hope forgive me my friend PainterWoman :frown:

PainterWoman 29. May 2009, 15:46

No need for regrets Antonietta. We all have opinions. And you may call me Pamela.

I'm wondering if there could be a totally separate Opera space where only those wishing to see the photos can go to. Since we have over two million members (or is it 3M?), imagine all 2 million uploading 20 or more photos, it would be difficult for the Opera team to go through so many. Plus, there would be difficulty in deciding what is appropriate and what is not. Who would decide?

MrLeffe 29. May 2009, 16:48

This a great post Ze I do agree with you and all what is written
in the comments. It is vital that we as members of this community
also put an effort in action when we see these albums. This is a big problem for many people and EpenAO I can see your point too.
There are more people needed to sail around to find these porno pictures. It is more important because some of these girls should not be there at all besause of age. We are in 2009, we want a clean cummunity and lets work it together. It is nice to keep Opera Clean.

zetorres 29. May 2009, 16:53

Indeed that is the point, all together we may report to Opera Team any time we see those porn pictures, I know they will do his best, as usually they do!

suicidalstones 30. May 2009, 00:31

Opera does a good job. Once I reported some inappropriate material and they took it down.

Joe

clean 30. May 2009, 00:37

Same here - and it was removed in minutes! Excellent result!

L2D2 30. May 2009, 01:21

Ze, thank you for this post. I agree that there is a line between art and pornography, and it is usually fairly easy to tell the difference. I like Pam's suggestion about having an "Adult" photography site. That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I read this post. It would be one solution if Opera wants to allow nude photos at all. Or sexually-oriented photos.

Personally, if I want to look at nude art, I can go to an art museum, and that is where it should be---galleries and museums.

Don't want Opera to get a reputation for having bad taste or a sleazy reputation. I have a couple friends on Opera who are 13 and 15 respectively. We do not need to have these photos available to them in OC.

Just my two cents worth.

studio41 30. May 2009, 06:41

I've voiced my beliefs before and unfortunately when I do, I can offend some people, even friends... I guess my common sense approach is we wear clothes publicly, so why not post the clad-dly peeps  not the others? suggestive or not...

I don't like the suggestive either, but that can be hard to avoid. an ADULT section and/or R - rated, like the movies, might be an idea. At home we have a filter service, but that doesn't catch everything...

one starts to get desensitized to it after awhile. some people get addicted to it. some walk the other way. I imagine that this sort of discussion help the site invariably and inevitably, I think. eventually, too, a site sways in one direction or another... and then places like blogger/blogspot-- or is it YAHOO 360-- has an opt in/opt out for ADULT material, I think.

L2D2 30. May 2009, 06:51

I just worry about all these young people who are not supervised on their phones or pcs and therefore, they can go whereever they wish. I don't even see how that problem is solveable. But neither do I believe we should just stand by and allow any kind of garbage to be posted.

fainoantonietta 30. May 2009, 08:26

Linda you are right, but I think that we all the community can see and say the uneasy we have in this occasions, and Espen together with all other friends are those have the responsibility to do something, to each his own role... fortunately!!! :D

MrLeffe 30. May 2009, 15:55

For me it is no question. If we start to say in that corner over there it is okey but not here it will soon fall apart. There are so many sites for nude pictures, why does it have to be one here? I think it is nice with Opera to keep it out of this business. So so many other sites to use in the nude market. What children to by their PC or self phone we can not always see or follow. But we can show them that it is no good and not okey by having no nude corners in Opera.

zetorres 30. May 2009, 21:14

I vote for no nude corners in Opera! Indeed we don't need it here!

L2D2 30. May 2009, 22:27

I absolutely agree to that Ze. Just saying that if Opera INSISTS on allowing this stuff, they should at least segregate it from the mainstream. But I agree that they shouldn't allow them at all. That would certainly be my preference.

zetorres 30. May 2009, 23:52

I guess important is we all report to Opera Team any time we see inappropriate images on main page...with this we are helping our community!

I think that those members that have those photos, usually they are not the owners, and they have no name no country nothing useful for our community!

They are here just to make mess...and that mess is not helping our kids and everyone here.

Joe is very right, any time I report to Espen those cases he is fast to resolve them!

Of course but art nothing have to this inappropriate images. Art it's simply amazing and I like it!

Shaunak 31. May 2009, 02:52

>>We used to manually pick the the photos for the front page,
>>but we (the My Opera team) are a very small team so we did
>>not always have time to browse for new pictures to
>>spotlight.

How about appointing community volunteers? Imm sure many of us would sign up for the job?

studio41 31. May 2009, 08:43

I think it is nice with Opera to keep it out of this business.

I absolutely agree with you. This is best.

fainoantonietta 31. May 2009, 10:56

Shaunak what exactly mean you when say < Im sure many of us would sign up for the job?>?

zetorres 31. May 2009, 17:40

I think we already are volunteers!

Zephirine 31. May 2009, 17:52

MrLeffe 31. May 2009, 18:13

Yes indeed we are

fainoantonietta 31. May 2009, 18:39

Ok

zetorres 31. May 2009, 19:30

But I would like to work for Opera!

Zephirine 31. May 2009, 21:34

As a :chef:?? :D:D

Zephirine 1. June 2009, 09:13

zetorres 1. June 2009, 09:29

Like Opera :jester: would be great! :D :D

MrLeffe 1. June 2009, 10:01

AllieV 3. June 2009, 19:04

. Good job Zé! I understand your point of you. But this is not easy matter..Who will be decide what is porn, which nude photos is not art ? I'm graphic designer and in my job not rare meet with the questions ..Absolutely agree with your good intentions, but this is my doubts. You know that now are very strong tendencies to censoring of internet, what can in the near future to limit our freedom at internet .. :worried: Then we should be very careful in the matters.

Class10a1 4. June 2009, 12:46

Ugh.... awww
Yeah, strongly agree w/ you.
