Two soundcards = Excess?

If you first think of it, I don't need the integrated one at all. Integrated cards are rarely very good and can't provide things such as EAX or other hardware sound thingies.
I have high-end headphones and some not-so-high-end speakers. There are times when I don't want to use the headphones, such as when I have friends visiting me. That's when I crawl to the back of the PC, unplug the headphones, plug in the speakers and crawl back. When I want to use the headphones again, I need to repeat that and it's kind of annoying.
Now, if you plug in the crap speakers to the crap motherboard soundcard, all you have to do is change the primary sound device from the control panel to use them instead of the headphones. Why didn't I think of that before?
