Weekend of sprint orienteering

This weekend was quite tough and quite a good preparation before the sprint champs of next week.

On Saturday we travelled to Polgár – 50 km away from Miskolc – to run a not real sprint competition. It was ok, because there was 2-round, but the courses were only 2 km long and the scale of the map was 1:2500. The surrounding was nice with a lot of sightseeing in the area of the Archeopark M3.

The first round – Not enough warm up, small quarantine zone, fast start and slow end. No big mistake, but a very bad route choice to the seventh control. The feeling was very bad and I had continuous problem with my running nose.

The second round – Quite slow start and quite fast end. Two smaller mistakes (control 7 and 8) and a bad route choice. With my second run I was quite satisfied and the feeling of competing was also normal. I think in the last 2 weeks it was my first run without any bad feeling of sickness. On Sunday we had the sprint distance championships of Borsod County. The terrain was the same as in May during the Euromeeting, but the whole course was in the forested part. Running wasn’t as nice as on Saturday. On the one hand I think I was quite tired because of the 2 rounds the previous day, on the other hand because we had 145 m uphill in a course of 2,2 km. Orienteering was good, till the last control. On the second last I lead by about 1 minute, but I made a very big, very stupid mistake to the last control. There was some (big) problem with the map, but I also lost my concentration. So I just walked into the finish after a mistake about 1,5 minutes to the last control.

The following week will be quite tough again. I will start my university life (again). Zsombor - zsomborló.JPG- will attend primary school first time – I think I am more excited than he is and I will continue also trainings and travel to the sprint and team champs on Friday.
