Opera 9 TP2 coming not soon at all? Read all about it!
http://operawatch.blogspot.com/2006/01/technical-preview-2-for-opera-9-coming.htmlsounds like good news, though his update isn't very promissing.

I think this possibly is because of Opera CES2006

Just like me! I have to go back to Opera 8.5 soon if no new beta is coming, it's just to many bugs in 9b1, I can't handle it anymore.

Well xErath, some call it beta, Opera call it preview, what’s the difference? I can’t see any difference.
And I have to confess a lie. I have never used Opera 8.5. In the last months, or maybe it’s a year, I’ve been using Opera previews most of the time…

As I understood it, preview is only what can be technically done, but it does not mean that this will find its way into a final or even beta

I hope they release it soon enough. I am using 'other' browser because some of the features dont work with Opera. And the experience suck. Hope the WIR is soon.
Are you moaning about a Preview release?

I can't use Preview 1 because it crashes insesantly when replying to e-mail using gmail. It almost made me just go back to Firefox. SOOOOOOO disappointing!, (plus, of course, the HTML screen layout while composing e-mail in gmail).
Therre is some truth in there, never had so much problems with an Opera preview like with this one.

I second that.
Opera TP1 had a lot of bugs to the point were it was unworkable.
I've installed it only to remove it 10 mins later, it had never happened with
any previous version.
My guess, without any inside, is that there was a lot of adding/rewriting of
the code and things broke down (things they used to work).
No reason to emulate the practices M$ is using, releasing before it's ready
even as a TP. Just fix the bugs, bring it into a par with 8.51 then release
it for testing.
No one is hunting Opera, it's to fast to catch anyway

Jeez, what part of this don't you understand?
Pre·view:
- of an experimental nature
- distributed to a limited audience, i.e. forums, newsgroups, and IRC
- should never be installed over a final release
- not to be used as a substitute for a final release

Never any problems with 9p1 at all(*). In fact, I think it's the most stable version on this system since I first installed here eighteen months ago!
(*) Only a couple of times feeds needed re-indexing, but this is nothing compared to O8.
I have always over-installed, since a) I've never had problems, and b) as a beta-tester I actually feel that *someone* should do it (and also c) unless it really deletes my mail or something I'm okay with fixing things myself)! But I'm not stupid - I've made backups when the changelog looked sufficiently ... interesting (like for this preview).

Which is what I did, too!

There was a rash of users with odd problems after 8.02 came out, they had upgraded their "beta" versions of 7.xx and even though 8.00 gave them no apparent problems, the problems did catch up with them.
I thought most new releases came out on Fridays or the day before a holiday. That way the Devs could take a couple days off to party.

It just takes time, it will happen when you *dont* backup for some reason...
