Please use this thread for wishes from now on. Thanks!

ManneS, may be you can help or say "it wouldn't take place" ?
I have LG KG300 phone and I see about same situation in KG800, KG920 and KG320 from your list of compatibility and forum also. All that phones have MIDP 2.0, but cannot use Opera advanced version, basic only. Which cardinal LG problem prevents from normal functioning of Opera advanced ?
For example, on my KG300 firmw. rev. 10e, Internet-GPRS (socket, http no matter), I try Opera 3.1.8295 and 4.0.8462 advanced with same simptoms: first when Opera starts all normal (first network testing, menu calling, parameters setting), but after first Internet page downloading (download speed is good) every keyboard click (key is not matter) has very big response time (30sec-10min). No other errors, but really impossible to work. But ! If I download page, after some long rest time on that page (20-40min about) keys are live again and work quickly. (May be processor too slow but it is really questionable - Opera basic looks quick enough, but not cool enough ).
Wish briefly: advanced version works on LG KG. (KG300 for example )
Thanks!

1. I think the 3 and 9 buttons should be made into Top of Page (Home), and Bottom of Page (End) butons respectively.

2. I think the zoom feature (5) should be two step. The zoom is too much. I think you should be able two read the text from the first zoom level, and then the second level can be there when you really need precision.

3. I would really love to configure the search box on the home page.

I am sorry if these have been suggested. I don't have access to a PC. Only my phone with Opera Mini and it is really tedious to read all these post with it.

Choosable mouse pointer size!

Mouse pointer size:
- Normal
- Large
- Extra large

(On 352x416 display, the current mouse pointer is very small.)

Searching a text on web pages!

A 'Search' (or 'Find') option in the popup-menu (started by pressing key [1]) would be _very_ nice!

Function for the keys [3], [9] and [7]:

[3]: Fine scrolling up
[9]: Fine scrolling down

[7]: Jumping to top/bottom of the web page (same as [#],[3])

or

[7]: Switching between 'normal scrolling' and 'fine scrolling'
That would change the way of scrolling with [2],[4],[6],[8] keys!

I mean under 'fine scrolling' pixel by pixel scrolling.
And 'normal scrolling' is the present functionality.

And 'setting browser cache size' function of course!

That would be very important for me, because currently I can't undisturbed listen to music
and browse with Opera Mini at the same time on my Nokia N80 because Symbian OS tries
to provide Opera Mini with so much memory as possible, therefore sooner or later it closes other
running applications including Media Player...

Tor this reason I must restart Opera Mini from time to time to release memory!
That's bad. If I could limit the browser cache to approx. 3-4 MB, this problem would disapear.

And fixing the 'Fit to width' bug on 352x416 (and 416x352) displays

Most webpages still have a very large left and right margin on the above display sizes...

Please make 'Fit to width' option to work exactly as in Opera Mini 3!

Checking Opera Mini version when connecting to server

and notifying the user if a new version is avalaible. (This notification should have a
'don't show this noficiation in the future' checkbox. Or the version check must be disableable
in the Settings menu.)

Maybe also an option to exit Opera Mini and start to download the new version immediately!

Sunday, 1. July 2007, 01:17:38

Yes, an internal way of checking for an update would be very usefull.

But mainly I want Dogpile as the search engine, as it searches the main search engines in one go.
or rather I would like Dogpile UK in the UK version.

 Dogpile used to have a "mini Dogpile" interface. Maybe they would bring it back for Opera, if they were asked nicely

My wishlist:

That someone would actually make it install properly on a BlackBerry 7520. Then I could see if it was any good. As it stands, my opinion is that it's a piece of GARBAGE!

Sunday, 1. July 2007, 21:25:35

My wishlist below (in the order of preference) for features Opera Mini 4 should support:
- better bookmark handling: folders, more flexible sorting, bookmark specific settings (font size, image quality)
- smaller fonts (like in mini v3)
- flash (by default could be turned off)
- find on page
- user agent spoofing
- image DL without native browser
- auto-update possibility
- google search instead of yahoo (on the start page)

The following probably go without saying, but...
- https (ssl)
- stable form submission

Last but not least, fix the following!
- socket connections keep disconnecting too often (at least with Nokia phones, http seems to work okay)
- very slow UI (Nokia E61)

I consider the follwing two suggestions a must:

1. Wand like ability to remember passwords. This is very important given the difficulty of entering text in mobile phones.

2. Cingular/ATT signing. If opera mini wants to compete with the iPhone it should be a signed application like Yahoo Go. On Cingular phones for every page you open the phone asks for permission unless it is a signed app. This is very anoying and one of the main reason Cingular/ATT people don't like Opera Mini.

It is not an OM's problem that signing is not designed for constantly developed applications. P:

hi at all people of Opera! OM4beta is the fastest browser for cell phones available, it is very good, yet it could be improved. In my opinion the landscape view is more handy for PC users than the mini mobiles users, if you don't know the sites you can't find immediately what you are searching, but practise is fun, useful and wise. Still I'm browsing more with OM3.1 cause the lack of security in the OM4beta. Now my wish list: 1, an OperaMini Email account, not too big just mini ; 2, enable users to save last page before clear history ; 3, an Email address where I can send my avatar and my photo too, similar to photo albums. Yes, you can tell me to use a PC but I'm a mini user and this is the Mini wish list Homer: Doh! good luck for everything.

Nimbuzz software for mobile has a very nice interface for selecting font sizes. It's so damn simple and so damn useful at same time! I think Opera Mini must copy this interface!
nimbuzz_font_selection.jpg
As you can see in attached photo, there is a preview for each font size.

Now that I have OM4 running stable on my PPC, I have had time to really get familiar with it and form some more requests/ideas.

1. I really love the overview mode but when zoomed in it can get frustrating.
If I'm reading a forum it's: Click down, click right, right, right, right, see poster, click left, left, left, left, click down down down, read post, click down, down down. Well, you get the idea. My clicker finger is getting tired! See www.howardforums.com

How about if we add momentum for clickers and for touch screen users. For button users one click start the cursor or zoom box in that direction. A second click in the same direction stops the scrolling. This would ease reading forums with lots of left and right. It would also ease reading through long columns in forums because you could just start the screen moving and read the post titles as they scroll by.

It would work with touch screen users too. A quick flick on the screen would move the screen farther than actual movement of the stylus. I think this could be made compatible with the current way that the columns "stick" when scrolling up and down.

2. I forgot all about magic wand but please add it. For security, maybe the directional control could be used for the master password. For example my master password could be moving the directional control up, up, down, left, right. This would be really quick and decently secure given enough clicks. After that, all my passwords and logins are automatic. Woot!

3. I still wish I could reverse the left and right soft keys. Opera Mini is the only browser I use in which the back key is the right key. Minor, but important enough to me to mention.

4. I am still working out the mechanics on this one but please give us a better way to follow the flow of a page once it's zoomed in. See the stories in the new version of www.cnn.com for a great example. I have to scroll all over the page to follow the story.

Yes, if you ever get it working for the Palm this would be nice.

'Clear browser cache' function

'Clear cookies' and 'Clear history' functions are aleready present, but I'm missing a 'Clear browser cache' function very much!!!

(That would help with memory problems as far as you implement the 'browser cache size limit' function - if ever...)

Option to disable/enable accesskey in webpages.

For example Google Reader:
google.com/reader/m/

You can navigate with 0-9 and * and #. But this doesn't function, because this shortcuts used for opera functions. So you should be able to switch if you like browser shortcuts or websites shortcuts.

I personally don't access any WAP page, because they are so small, content-less, boring... I prefer to access any full web page, like those we can access using a desktop browser. There are no shortcuts for these pages.

I think WAP/WML are going to be obsolete very soon. IMHO, there is no reason to develop a WAP/WML site if you can develop a HTML site that should work on both mobile and desktop browsers.

Maybe this is a little off-topic, but that's just my opinion.

Hello everybody.
First thing I want to say: Opera mini 4 Dimension has already changed my way to surf the web. Much more free time from Pc. Just stuck on my phone. Much better, of course!!

Wishlist? Ok, I see many have already said the main things, but just to make them stronger:
1. remember passwords and logons
2. folders for bookmarks
3. option for screen rotation
4. a way to read easily pdf files
5. option to personalise a few bottons with the command I want (like: just push 7 to re-load)
6. option to personalise the dimension of zoom, creating intermediate level in respect of the 5 botton.

Thank you!
Alberto

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I wonder if there could be a search option on the full page view? It would be nice if you could search for a word or phrase, and zoom right in on it!

Forgive me if this has already been posted (I'm new and not a fast reader), but here's what I wish for:

1. An option to view the regular version of pages that have mobile versions. OM$ automatically gives you a mobile version whenever possible, but I'd like the option to turn this off and get the full desktop version (preferably in the context menu *1)

2. Since yahoo is a part of the search page, how about OM4 integration with del.icio.us bookmarks? I use del.icio.us bookmarks and it would be great to have them integrated somehow.

Thanks!
Jesse

The first part depends on the website, not Opera Mini. Some sites (eg Amazon) decide to give Mini the mobile version.

I haven't seen this request posted here before, so if I overlooked it, I apologize for re-posting it.

I would like to see the following change to the "Use Network?" Prompt:

Current Prompt:

Opera Mini is trying to use HTTP for communication.
(.) Allow and ask me next time
( ) Don't Allow this time
( ) Don't allow for this session

I would like to see something like the following: (one or possibly two new options)

Opera Mini is trying to use HTTP for communication.
(.) Allow and don't ask me again
( ) Allow for this session
( ) Allow and ask me next time
( ) Don't allow this time
( ) Don't allow for this session

Keep up the good work!

Sunday, 8. July 2007, 16:49:58

I'm afraid those options come from the phone and the limitations the provider places on third party apps. The first of your options is usually disabled. Some people's phones force them to say yes to every single page load.

This is why User-Agent spoofing might be useful.

BTW, Opera Mini homepage is also another example. It restricts the contents for mobile users and tell them to use a Desktop Browser. Ironic?

I'd say it's better if everyone just posted all the features they'd like to get implemented. If there are similar or exactly the same wishes, Opera software is more likely to add those features to the final release as more people are requesting them.

Wednesday, 11. July 2007, 06:39:47

I would like to see screen rotation so i can view pages in landscape mode on my N73.

Also on N73 is you click the joystick to zoom in, it would be good if you could click it again to zoom back out.

And the option not to show the history on the start page.

Apart from that this is an amazing browser.

Yes, I'm 100% agree with that and I have one more suggestion:
It'll be cool if landscape mode is add! For the big screen phones(320x240 or bigger) will be very comfortable and in combination with that kind of operating with the pages in the Net, which is used in Opera Mini 4 it'll be so close to PC browser method of work!
Opera mini 4 will be grate, but still needs little more good work on it!

even though wml and xhtml (wap) pages are dying slowly, it would be cool if opera mini identified the phone model to the pages because some pages say something to the effect of "your phone is not supported" when you try to access them with OM. thanx for the great work opera team!

This is possible to implement. Not sure if would be very useful, because Opera Mini wouldn't be able to read it back without uploading it to Opera Mini Servers.

True. A little counter next to clock would be very useful.

Thursday, 12. July 2007, 20:30:35

That seems overkill, when there's already a data counter in Mini on the Help -> About screen, as well as probably one on your phone.

Cut and paste already does work (on Series 60).
A login manager like in Opera Mobile would be a great idea.

And:
user agent spoofing (allow selection of acting like a computer browser) as some sites show only a very limited WAP version of their site (e.g. www.hyves.net, www.locr.com) .

Friday, 13. July 2007, 22:39:30

I don't care if this his been posted a million times but, until Opera solves it, I'll keep popping it up.
I wish the team would improve the socket connection for nokia. It disconnects way too much! HTTP works fine but, since I prefer the socket connection, I think the OM team should seriously look into it.
After all, it's not adding a new feature- just improving an already existing one
