Opera Software

Server has been upgraded

Just thought I'd let you know that the server was upgraded just now. Some things should now work again, like logging into certain OWA or other sites with incomplete certificate chains.

Please let us know if you have any issues with this server version that you haven't had before. Thanks!

Edit: Changelog
  • Added a simple UI to the server-side preferences that exists. Go to 'opera:config' to configure some settings.
  • Tweaked phonenumber detection, there should be somewhat fewer false positives now, but you can now also disable the feature on the opera:config page.
  • Increased the default timeouts to 40 seconds from 20.
  • Updated to a HTML rendering engine to be similar to the latest Opera 9.5 weekly release.
  • Fixed support for entering hostnames starting with a number (eg, 360.yahoo.com) as a URL without the starting http://
  • Made content folds visible even when the background is black.
  • Fixed inter-page links ().
  • Fixed clipping rectangle for iframes with hidden overflow css properties, this bug caused some links inside some iframes to be unclickable.
  • Fixed HTTP basic auth for pages with non-7bit authentication realm.
  • Pages with nested <a> tags are now somewhat easier to navigate (<a href='link'>Link 1 <a href='link2'> Link 2</a></a>), it's now possible to follow both the inner and the outer link.
  • New WML stylesheet.
  • Various optimizations resulting in the average transcoding time to be 20% lower.

Nice to see the bug fixes. Opera:config is a very good idea, first thing I did was turn off phone number detection and feeds.
Slightly dissapointed that the issues with vBulletin are not fixed.

Thank you, Opera Team. The fixes to content folding and phone number detection solved my two issues with OM.

Thank you opera mini team. You rock! But i was just wandering.. Will we ever get back om 3.1 fit to screen image resizing? Om3 has the most beautiful image rendering i've ever seen on any mobile device.

Unfortunately, Nokia Discussions Personal Messaging doesn't work properly now. Harder to navigate menus. Sometimes messages are not sent (in the past not at all, luckily OM3 still works properly). SENT folder and REPLY links do not work AT ALL now, how harder you try (with both mobile and non mobile views), only the same page gets reloaded.

I just realised that you always have to enter opera:config manually in the Enter Address field. Opera Mini identifies HTML links containing opera:config as INVALID.

I think the server update has caused this bug: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=222376

Otherwise no problems so far, thank you very much OM folks
Especially number of options on about:config is really something I have wished for.

Go to the config page and bookmark with #7. Works fine here at least.

Inter-page links using #-sign in URL works but not the permalinks used e.g. at my.opera.com forums.
Try this: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=2438799
It should directly open Grawity's post on this thread, not the top of this page.

Edit & note: Another link problem still not fixed. On some Web pages out-links just reload the page and you have to use '#1 > Link > Open'.

Since the upgrade I've been facing distressing problems while surfing my www.facebook.com account. Check boxes and their labels many times do not appear. Clicking some links take me back to the previous page in a viscous circle. Things were smooth before the update.
Just seconds ago, I was asked to click on " I agree to the terms" upon signing in to Opera Community here but the I Agree link was no where to be found.

no wait, I can't. When I click a local link (<a href="#foo">) and then press "Back", the page still doesn't scroll back.

It's not a server-side issue, you know...

Have you upgraded servers for OM3? OM2? :D

And how does opera:config differ from config:?

The decision for opera:config is to make it the same as on desktop.

Ok it will be a little bit difficult to describle because of my weak English and the fact that it happens in MY account. But I will try.
Inside facebook I have a number of applications added. One of them is Pirates. In this one (and others) before the update, I could enter the first letters of a name I want to send an invitation to, in a text box and then press the button of send invite. In the next page, the full name appears as a blue link in a pop up small box (in mobile view in appears at the bottom of the page) I press the link and in the next page the blue full name appears inside the original text box. Next I press the "invite" button and send the invitation.
After the update, when I press the blue name link, the name is not transfered inside the text box, instead I'm taken back to the first page with the empty text box.

Another problem is that the text in some instances (e.g. in Pirates or Human Pets application) instead of appearing normally, after the upgrade it appears as a narrow long vertical line with a width of one single letter
l
i
k
e

t
h
i
s
specially where there are text boxes or check boxes with the text. I can see these boxes but cannot get the highlight on them (obviously the are no longer chosable as links)
Yet in many other applications like Lil Green Patch, before the update, a list of all my friends would appear with check boxes next to each name so that I may choose from among them. After the upgrade, neither the names nor their check boxes appear. There is only an empty white space.
