5: Web standards – beautiful dream, but what's the reality?
The ideal of using web standards and best practices, for a more inter-operable, maintainable, accessible web is a good one to try to get as close to as possible in all sites you create. So why then is it that much of the web is still built using bad, outdated practices? For the first time reader it may be a bit strange to read article 4: "The Web standards model - HTML, CSS and JavaScript", and then read this article just to find out that JavaScript was left out of the equation. I know that there is no official JavaScript validator out there -- maybe there could not be a complete validator due to the use of "eval()" -- but it should be worth while mentioning some of the unofficial ones or other techniques for checking JavaScript (the core language and DOM usage).
