No Drag and Drop in Windows
Disappointed that it is abolutely impossible to drag and drop (DND) from Opera to Explorer:- DND image to folder (save) or to paint shop pro...
- DND email (file.eml)
- DND address bar or any hyperlink (file.url, shortcut)
- etc...
Like in Internet Explorer..
In fact, when you Drag from Opera, you simply cannot Drop ANYWHERE. The cursor is just turning to the forbidden icon... bad bad bad for modern windows application

Something else which can be frustrating is that there is no easy way to email somebody an image directly from the web (currently, it has to be saved locally first, then attached).
If I've opened an image (using the right click option) I'd like to be able to drag and drop it into an compose email window (where it would be included as an attachment). The same thing could happen with web pages - DNDing them into an email would include the html file as an attachment, ideally with all it's links converted to absolute references.
'Twould all make life so much easier

To easily save an image, you can CTRL+click on it (hold "CTRL" while clicking) which will offer you a "save as..." dialog. This is a function you will search in IE in vain.

I am sorry but, on my Opera, this is false.
I Drag and, as soon as my mouse leaves the Opera window, the forbidden sign appears and I can't drop anywhere.
Normal Drag and Drop should, when hover the taskbar for a while, minimize all windows so you can Drop on the desktop.
Normal Drag and Drop should, when hover onto an application task icon in the taskbar, switch to this application and let you Drop.
Here when I manage to drop the image to the desktop (I have to resize Opera window, minimize all other windows manually: this is not acceptable) it only drops a shortcut, not an image.
This is why it doesn't work with other applications like Paint shop pro or any other..
What I mean is that the behaviour of the Drag and Drop is not similar to what it should be and to what every other windows application, even the smallest one!
It is the first time I see a Drag and Drop this way.
When the Opera window is maximized, there is no interaction possible with anything else.

The CTRL+click is cool but Drag and Drop is natural. And is a must in any windows application.
Not only IE do good Drag and Drop. Firefox does too.

The keys {win}+{d} minimise all open applications for you; you still have to resize Opera.

True again - what a strange behavior.

I agree with you. I rarely ever use D&D in Opera for the pointed out reasons. But I rarely ever use Drag&Drop anyways, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Some drag and drop works. Dragging and dropping an image to the page bar or window panel will open that image (though if the image is a link it will open the link address in the background, as I think it should).
But DND could hugely improve browsing (easily open page in IE/Firefox, send page/image as email attachment). Sure, there'll always be other priorities, but this is a wish-list

Never knew about Ctrl+click... nice one!
Yes! Now imagine having Ctrl+Shift+click for download to last used folder! How fast and convinient it would be to save multiple images this way!
In this post the idea was introduced. Please add your vote too.

I installed Opera 8.50!
First of all it's a great pleasure not to have those banner ads anymore!
BUT There is still no support for Drag and Drop as I first explained in my post.

2 clicks on a word hilights it, the 3rd click should really allow dragging it. Even if it's just text, having to use the clip board is a huge pile of extra work.
I find it hard to do a search about the post I'm writing (not being able to drag text to the search box). The text area right click menu has no search either.
This makes making links a whole lot harder, for example writing a post about the google video upload program would require me to type the 4 words in the search box a second time or copy and past it. (select text > right click > pick menu option copy [from the middle of the menu] > click search box > select past [middle of menu again] > press enter > right click url > copy url [middle of menu] > click original tab > insert cursor > right click > select past
A right click search option could replace the 2 extra mouse moves and pressing enter but DND would work to.
I'm kind of used to doing lots of searches before I ask/post something. I currently see myself type the same lines as my post contains. That cant be right. ^_^
+1 for dnd

over 3.5 years later and there's still no DND support in windows
Is this a technical limitation of QT that opera uses?

Afair, Opera for Windows don't use QT. And yes, I think it problem from Opera framework (also, as there is not copying text with images and formatting).

If you want to copy layout, I guess it is to paste it in word or something like that. You can always save the HTML page and open in in your software.

Do you mean that you think ctrl-click is as convenient as dnd support for images, files, etc?
If so, I'm surprised you changed your opinion on this issue, and that you support your opinion that the lack of proper DND support is not bad because you give an example of the lack of a implementation of 'paste-special -> values' in MS Word (For some weird reason MS Excel has proper support!).

1) It's offtopic.
2) All normal editors have the "Special paste" with "Paste as plain text".
3) Ignoring of standards - it bad (for instance, in edit mode, Opera uses non-standard format of clipboard).
