Opera backup list and WinRAR command line shortcut creator for Opera Backup

See Opera backup list and WinRAR command line shortcut creator blog post.

I have already posted how to Encrypt and backup your Opera files using WinRAR. Some people found it difficult. So, I created Opera backup list and WinRAR command line shortcut creator using AutohotKey. Its size is only 205 KB and installation is not required. You have to configure and run this one time. Afterwards, if you want to backup hit shortcut key CTRL+ALT+O to run the backup.

You can either do a complete backup or incremental backup. In complete backup, backup file name is appended with date, time or number. In incremental backup, predefined number of previous versions of a file will be kept and old versions are deleted automatically.

Tried on 2 machines ; winrar says "impossible to open "Opera. No file to add"

I wonder if my profile and mail paths are'nt too long :
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile
(same for mail)

From first post of this thread,

2. If you enter directory path manually it should not contain trailing SLASH (\).

Ketlar, in Backup directory you have to enter I: instead of I:\

What about adding the option to add in specific files in the opera directory that you use.

For instance I have a vbs script which is used to allow me to export my notes to notepad, I have a folder with additional panels I use which I would also like to backup.

I also have a ua.ini editor and operaadblock.exe and filter.ini which I would also like to backup.

It is already build in. You have to add it in Backup Items key of OBLWCLSC.ini file. The format is

File name with extension or folder name, Name to display in OBLWCLSC.exe, In which folder the file or folder is in (0 if it is in Opera directory or 1 if it is profile directory or 2 if it is in mail directory , Whether checked or not (1 if you want backup else 0)

The entries are separated by |

Therefore you have to add

|your VB script name with extension,Notes to notepad VB script,?,1|your panel folder name, your panel folder name,?,1|ua.ini,ua.ini,?,1|operaadblock.exe,Opera Ad Block,?,1|filter.ini,filter.ini,?,1

? = Change this according to your location.

Then finally in OBLWCLSC.ini,

Backup Items=images\,Favicons,2,1|keyboard\,Keyboard configuration,2,1|menu\,Menu configuration,2,1|mouse\,Mouse configuration,2,1|sessions\,Sessions (Saved windows),2,1|Skin\,Skin,2,1|toolbar\,Toolbar configuration,2,1|notes.adr,Notes,2,1|opcacrt6.dat,Certificate authorities,2,1|opcert6.dat,Personal certificates,2,1|opera6.adr,Bookmarks,2,1|opera6.ini,Opera settings,2,1|opssl6.dat,SSL preferences,2,1|search.ini,Search engines,2,1|wand.dat,Wand data,2,1|cookies4.dat,Cookies,2,1|global.dat,Global history,2,1|vlink4.dat,Visited links,2,1|download.dat,Download history,2,1|userjs\,User Javascript,2,0|styles\,User Styles,2,0|ua.ini,ua.ini,2,0|browser.js,browser.js,2,0|,Mail,3,1|program\plugins,Plugins,1,1|Ousr600.dat,Registration information,1,1|your VB script name with extension,Notes to notepad VB script,?,1|your panel folder name, your panel folder name ,?,1|ua.ini,ua.ini,?,1|operaadblock.exe,Opera Ad Block,?,1|filter.ini,filter.ini,?,1

I have a question: WinRAR is not freeware, you have to pay for it in order to use it. With all the other compression programs out there, many of them free, why are you using one that requires payment?

WinRAR is one of the most used software for compression. It has good compression and full command line support. You can use it without registration (Nag screen).

This is a great program but I had problems with files in use so I created this button to start the backup process and close opera. It's a great way to end the day.

"Backup & Exit"=Execute program, "C:/Program Files/Opera 9/Opera Backup.lnk", , "Backup & Exit" & Exit
I for one welcome our browser overlord. All hail Opera

Thanks for your suggestion. You can add it easily. Add the following at the end of the line Backup Items= in OBLWCLSC.ini.
|contacts.adr,Contacts,2,1|opera.dir,Typed addresses,2,1

I will update tommorrow.

I think You'd like my next suggestion. Its very helpful for all non-english Opera users.

If you add the following at the end of the line Backup Items= in OBLWCLSC.ini localization files from Opera directory will also be archieved by RAR.
|*.lng,Language files,1,1
Thanks a lot for your work:headbang:

hi, Tamil !!

I'm really sorry askin for something not so important !!

Look at this, please :

[img]http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/476/op2ta.png

The "BackUp" button is bigger than the others. I'd like it to be a little bit smaller. That's all !!

As I said before, it's not too important, but ....if it's possible , I really appreciate.
Just tell me how to do, I'll try.

Thank you for this usefull "OperaBackUp"

For those of you not running Windows or WinRAR I've recently added a simple backup tool to oSync. It backups to your my.opera.com server space and uses encryption and compression as well.

This will backup only widgets.adr file. But not \widgets\ folder, where as I think all widgets are stored.
I did so:
|widgets.adr,Widgets,2,1|widgets\,Widgets Folder,2,1

But this code does 2 checking Items in program window. How could I do both (Widget & Widget Folder) in one checking Item?
